Move It Removals | 📊 Link Audit 📊
Download MP3Dan Grant: Hey guys, it’s Dan from FatRank again. Welcome back to another link audit video. In this video, I’ll be looking at Move It Removals, a company offering removal services around the Essex area. We took some of the key phrases they might want to rank for, analysed why their links could be improved, and looked at how they can strengthen them to rank for more key phrases.
Their website is targeting the right terms — removal-based keywords, location references — and all of that is fine. But when we search for the key phrase “removal company Southend,” which is clearly relevant to them, we can see they’re currently ranking in position six. There’s room for improvement, and we’re going to take a look at how.
We put the key phrase into an analytics tool, and it shows the phrase gets around 100 searches per month in the UK with a keyword difficulty of six. That’s a decent amount of searches and a relatively easy ranking difficulty, meaning with a few smart changes, they should be able to rank much higher.
Scrolling down, the tool shows us a mock-up of Google’s rankings. Move It Removals sits in position six. On the side, there are tabs showing backlinks and referring domains — how many backlinks that URL has and how many unique websites they come from. Move It Removals has 27 backlinks from 15 referring domains.
Compare that to their competitors: Aussie House Removals has 344 backlinks from 84 domains. Another competitor above them has 343 backlinks from 88 domains. These sites are ranking higher because they’ve clearly invested heavily in backlinks. The blog-style “top 10 removal companies” pages in positions one and two will be tough to outrank, but the number three spot is very achievable. With more backlinks, Move It Removals could easily move from number six into those higher positions.
So the first recommendation is simple: increase backlink quantity. Competitors in this niche are pushing hard with link building, and Move It Removals can do the same to improve their rankings.
Going into more detail, when we click the backlinks tab, we see that every backlink going to Move It Removals is a directory link. Similar to my last audit, everything is from directories — even ones that look different at first, like “Removal Approval,” turn out to just be another directory listing. These are fine to have; they don’t harm the website, but they offer very little power. Google doesn’t treat directory links as strong ranking signals. They’re more like basic “starter links” telling Google what your business is and where you’re located.
What Move It Removals needs are more powerful and varied links, such as blog posts and guest posts that are relevant to the removal niche. These carry real authority and provide diversity. Google likes to see different link types rather than a lopsided directory-only profile. So the big mistake would be trying to catch up to a competitor with 344 links by building more directories. They already have enough of those — it’s time for stronger and more relevant links.
My core recommendations can be broken down into three steps:
– More quantity of links
– More quality of links (more powerful sources)
– More link diversity (different types of links, not just directories)
This will reduce the footprint, build trust, and make Google more confident in ranking their site.
The last thing I checked was social signals. Using a social signal counter, we looked at Move It Removals’ presence across platforms. While they have plenty of Facebook activity, they have no Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, or other social signals. Google likes to see varied social engagement — it shows trust and real-world relevance. So we’d advise getting some social signals from different platforms.
For those needing help with guest posts or social signals, we’ve included links in the video description to recommended companies that can help.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video, hope you learned something today. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you later.
