Kasra Dash: A question that I get asked a lot is how do I generate leads using Google? What are your thoughts, James?

James Dooley: Google is the most used search engine in the world. There are a lot of people going there looking for answers or looking for lists of companies that offer the services you provide. So if you are looking to generate more leads, Google in my opinion is the number one place you should start optimising for.

I would recommend teaming up with a professional SEO agency that can help you. Even if they just act as the architect, they can give you a plan, a topical map, and show you what pages and what backlinks you might need for your website.

I would also look to team up with a professional lead generation agency that uses Google SEO and organic rankings to generate your leads. Or they can use Google PPC as well and pay to get you to the top. It can be expensive, but it can bring fast leads. If you want instant leads, PPC is the best option.

If you want to generate your own leads long term, then hire a professional SEO agency. If you are unsure about PPC or SEO and do not know what to do, outsource it to a professional lead generation company. Tell them that you want the leads coming from Google and that you want organic rankings for the specific keywords that make you the most money.

Kasra Dash: One final question. You have used Facebook ads, YouTube, Facebook organic, Twitter and other platforms. Why would someone specifically want leads generated via Google? Are conversion rates higher? Is the cost per acquisition lower? What is the case?

James Dooley: That is a great question. Generally speaking, if you are using interruptive marketing like social media ads, people are not actively going out of their way to search for the product or service you offer. Social media platforms like Facebook ads, Twitter ads and YouTube ads usually convert a lot less than someone who goes to Google and searches for a specific product or service.

There is much more intent behind a Google search. In my opinion, across hundreds of industries, Google leads or leads generated from Google search almost always bring a higher conversion rate than social media leads.
