How to Get More Leads as a Tree Surgeon in the UK

If you are a tree surgeon and you are looking for a consistent flow of enquiries for your business and you want to know which marketing strategies actually work and which you should avoid, this video is for you. Myself and James have worked with a lot of tree surgeons across the UK. We know exactly what works and what burns your budget. We are going to break it all down. James, take it away.
James Dooley:
Step number one for growth is a Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to every existing client and get as many five star reviews as possible. Google Business Profile is a strong way to generate more leads. You should also build citations, post regularly and upload photos. That is the first thing I would focus on for more local leads.
Kasra Dash:
Step number two builds on top of your Google Business Profile. Create dedicated service pages for each individual service. Make them SEO optimised pages on your website. When you do that, you will rank those pages and increase the chances of your Google Business Profile showing for more keywords. You indirectly get more phone calls.
James Dooley:
If you want more local leads, PPC lead generation is another option. Pay per click on Google or Bing lets you target bottom of the funnel keywords. You must team up with a good PPC agency because of click fraud and because you need a strong negative keyword list to avoid jobseekers. PPC works well but in the wrong hands you can waste money.
Kasra Dash:
Then you have meta ads such as Facebook and Instagram. When someone is scrolling, your ad may appear. Lead forms are quick and keep users on Facebook but the quality can be low. You can add more questions to improve it. Conversion ads send people to your website where they fill out your form. There are a couple of good options.
James Dooley:
Organic social media is another route. You can post regularly on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram. Reddit and Quora are also strong because people ask questions and you can answer them. Organic posting is a great way to generate more local leads.
Kasra Dash:
Organic social media is a volume game. You need a daily or weekly schedule. You might decide to upload five videos a week and stick to it. Platforms like YouTube and Twitter reward consistency.
James Dooley:
What are your thoughts on using AI agents to automate and schedule posts. People use tools like N8N to automate content. Would you bring in an AI consultant for that.
Kasra Dash:
You can definitely do that. AI agents can crop videos and auto publish to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. I would also look at AI search. People are slowly moving from Google to engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok. If your brand is not showing up there, you will struggle to generate leads from those search engines. It is something companies need to focus on.
James Dooley:
If you want more local business leads, you should also team up with tradespeople websites. Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader and Rated People all generate leads. Track your KPIs carefully. Do not only track cost per lead. Track cost per acquisition and the return on investment. Tradespeople platforms can work well. Check the links in the description because we compare Checkatrade with FatRank, Bark with FatRank, Rated People with FatRank, Builder Builder with FatRank.
Kasra Dash:
What are your thoughts on lead generation companies compared to tradespeople platforms.
Kasra Dash:
With lead generation companies, you must do your due diligence. If you are in a niche, the lead generation company must have experience generating leads in that industry. Have a strategy call. Discuss your budget and ideal lead volume. Make sure your KPIs align. Ask what type of leads they provide. Are they exclusive or shared. Many companies like Bark and Checkatrade send shared leads. That creates a price race to the bottom. These are key questions to ask before partnering.
James Dooley:
If you want more local leads, head to FatRank.com. We use a commission based lead generation model. You only pay a finder’s fee on converted jobs. You pay nothing per lead. You pay nothing until you convert the job and get paid. Only then do you pay FatRank.com. Head over and see if you qualify.
James Dooley:
Let’s expand further. What are your thoughts on inbound lead generation versus outbound.
Kasra Dash:
I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate is far higher. The last statistic I saw was 16.1 percent conversion into a paying customer compared to 1.4 percent for outbound leads.
James Dooley:
That is ten to twelve times more conversion. Outbound requires high volume. Cold calling, cold email or LinkedIn outreach often needs more staff. People look at outbound as free leads but it is not free. Email sending costs money. Sales teams cost money. Inbound is far better.
James Dooley:
People often ask whether leads are real time. How important is real time delivery.
Kasra Dash:
It is very important. The last internal stat we saw showed that real time leads convert about 63 percent higher. Responding in under one minute made a major difference. We used to think five minutes was good. Under one minute is far better. When an enquiry comes in, call or email straight away.
Kasra Dash:
Not every company needs to respond in under a minute but businesses should be aware of how fast response times impact conversion. At FatRank we look at this when partnering with companies. Some go away for five days on holiday and nobody picks up the leads. These operational issues matter.
Kasra Dash:
If you want consistent high quality leads, fill out the form at FatRank. The team will tell you if you are the right fit and why. They will also tell you the next steps if you are not ready.
James Dooley:
We hope you like the strategies we covered for tree surgeon lead generation. Head over to FatRank.com and hopefully we can generate more tree surgeon leads for your business.
